Empowering the Independent Spirit: Why Join the IPG?
The Independent Producers Guild (IPG) is a professional partner for working and aspiring filmmakers. The IPG is a true guild dedicated to the business, ethics, and sustainability of independent film.
We provide the infrastructure, advocacy, and tools necessary for filmmakers to retain ownership of their work, maximize their budgets, and navigate a rapidly evolving media landscape.
The IPG & The Modern Producer
Membership in the IPG is gives you resources that lower production overhead, grants access to important resources, and that leads you to open new revenue streams.
1. Essential Production & Business Tools
- The Members’ Handbook (2026 Edition available in January, 2026): The industry’s only comprehensive guide to best practices and ethics for independent filmmakers. It includes vital production checklists (development through marketing) and fundamental contract templates. These legal templates alone can save hundreds of hours in research and significantly reduce attorney fees.
- Fiscal Sponsorship: Through our partnership with Stage And Screen Innovations (501c3), members can raise production funds with tax-deductible incentives at discounted commission rates, streamlining the financing process.
2. Direct-to-Consumer Distribution
- Future-Proofing Distribution: The Guild is actively developing FilmPod and Digital Box Office (Launching Spring/Summer 2026). These platforms are designed to help filmmakers bypass traditional gatekeepers and reach global audiences directly.
- Exclusive Savings: In 2026, members receive significant discounts on FilmPod channels (a ~$500+ annual cost for non-members). Full Members receive their channel at cost.
3. Production Savings & Staffing
- The PUNC Program: Access qualified, early-career producers, production managers, and coordinators. This program reduces labor costs while providing your production with skilled, vetted crew members.
- Member Services: Access discounts on production services offered by fellow IPG members and seminars.
Advocacy & Leadership
The IPG represents the independent producing sector to city, state, and federal agencies. We are currently at the forefront of the industry, engaging directly with AI platforms to establish ethical guidelines and protect human creativity. We monitor cultural and legal trends to ensure independent filmmakers have a voice in the legislative process.
